A Simple Premise

What is Top Six Picks? 

It's pretty simple: I take a topic, and then list the top six things that pop into my head about it.

Why six?

Well, five seemed way too easy. And "top ten" is so standardized now that it's boring (sorry, Mr. Letterman and writers). But six seemed manageable.

Who cares which six things you list?

Most likely, nobody will care. And that's just fine. In general, what I list will be silly or stupid or meant to generate a reaction and NOT intended as learned guidance. If you need someone to list six things about a specific topic, I recommend you seek out an expert in that field. But if you want to be mildly amused and wonder what six things you would add to your own list, this is a good place to be.

Why did you decide to start Top Six Picks?

Two reasons:

• I have wanted an excuse to write regularly, but wasn't ready to jump into anything in-depth (like a novel or some kind of blog-as-memoir thing).
• When the idea came to me, I was able to come up with over a dozen topics in just a couple of minutes, which made me hopeful I could keep this up over time.

What if I have an idea for a topic?

Please, please share it! Just because I have ideas for lists doesn't mean I don't want to hear yours, too. Heck, you've seen my lists - you know you could probably do better!
